Its that time of the year when I smile, and I just keep on smiling, I smile on every stupidity , and the time I want to stand still, do nothing and just gaze at the deity. Its my favourite festival “Ganesh Utsav.”
Its that festival which brings all the people out of the secure confines of their home to celebrate, to dance and to welcome the god of all god’s, Lord Ganesha. The special thing about it is the idol, which makes it interesting. I just love the beauty, the poised air around the god, the best feeling of being blessed no matter what, the feeling of security and love. Ganesha is my companion, in every step, every milestone. I feel great during this time of the year. The hope of having a guest at home, the hope of getting to see the serene beauty excites me to the core.
All the people in cities start cleaning their houses, start decorating the premises and ganpati pandals. The preparations galore is very stimulating and interesting to see. This is the only festival which is celebrated by all indians irrespective of religion, collectively. It symbolises the unity in diversity. The community ganesh celebrations are something every citizen looks forward to. Its the only festival where all the citizens come to one platform to celebrate, it decreases the gap between the poor and rich. In god’s court it is just spiritual harmony and peace which enthralls the inner being.
Lord ganesha is my friend, companion and adviser. I am a very big fan of his. I am using this word “fan” because he is a big celebrity for me. In every problem and every crises he is the first to whom I turn, I know he always helps everyone. When I see children with their parents, ill and sick with grave diseases, I find my worries small and let the god give them all the blessings of my share too. I never ask for anything, but just the well being of everyone in this world. I find asking for anything too selfish, he is that supreme authority who has all the power to give you pains or alleviate them, so I don’t ask for anything. He knows whats best for me, and thats for others. He does it, and I readily accept it. And so should others J
Ganesha my favourite god, the god of all god’s,
I welcome you. I look forward to your visit, for ten days my life becomes a bliss. At the end of the ten days, I am always teary eyed, I don’t want you to go away, but its like that, I have no choice. I love to sing arti for you. I am waiting, please come fast. My house is all being cleaned and decorated to welcome you. And this year I think its probably my last. I don’t know from next year onwards if I’ll be here or not, or where are my parents going to be. Its uncertain. But,
My faith in you is immortal,
like the eternal sky,
and the cloud of thoughts come & fly.
Your fan,
Tanu.
The festival of love and peace, my favourite.
Wish you all a very happy “Ganesh Utsav!”
May lord ganesha bless us all.

ReplyDeleteIt's very nice that youngsters like you are getting into observing and appreciating some of our priceless traditions,
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you, In my state[kerala], especially in the urban areas, nobody bothers to visit the temples frequently , of course, Brahmins are an exception...
I like your site,
Keep it Going... and I find that we have a lot of common interests, I'm quite excited about that ye know.
Anyway,
Cheers,
Vaisakh.
" It's simple lunacy to give thanks to God because you've got everything; while he's starving to death." [ Nikos Kaznastakis in Zorba The Greek]
ReplyDeleteAlthough I don't deny the existence of god as a concept. But just as an entity.
So I like the first half of your post.. About the festival.. And I almost like the last(second) half.. About the faith..
ReplyDeleteAgreement? Well, thats another story..
Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to u too..:)
ReplyDeleteTraditions won't last until we are living atleast..:P
Being a Godly fan is fun..:)
Just love the way u wrote.

@Wishv: I like your different perspective :) The festival is the symbol of unity in diversity :)
Rest as you say is another story, but will get back to you on this though :)
Wanna hear it completely...
@Nipun: I am a fan 'cause god is my celebrity :) Glad you liked..
I sure will visit and you too :)
excellent i like where you say ganesha is ur favourite god and the god of all gods .. GODS main bhi favouritism he he hehe
ReplyDeleteAll the best and I hope Gansha looks after you and all your wishes come true ....
God bless
@Bikram: I know it sounds childish but thats how I am. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wishes and may god bless you too.
sure.. i'd also love to have a nice conversation sometime..
ReplyDeleteTanvi,
ReplyDeleteGood written article and I like young people are into culture. (I am not too old but your profile says you are student).
I think Hinduism the word 'God' is used loosely. I beleive there is only one GOD - one and only GOD..not a favorite God or less favoirte GOD.
Lord Ganesha is messenger of GOD -- but that is my opinion.
@Wishv: I am waiting then :)
ReplyDelete@A: Hey thanks for visiting me :)
Well i respect your perspective too. And to be frank, different gods are just different paths leading to the same almighty.
Though in my case, well I am a bit of weird, but I have this fave god, and thats all. I do respect every path taken :)
'cause it ultimately leads to the same divine spirit.. :)
i don't promote idol worship bt i do believe i god a lot...
ReplyDeletegod is that force inside us that instills inspiration to us when v lose faith in ourselves....
nice post...and thnx for visiting my place:) and yea...ganpati bappa Morya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@Dhawal: Well I am not promoting anything here. And I do agree about your views :)
ReplyDelete@Rohini: Thanks for visiting me too.. :)
A special deity, indeed...
